Book Review: Worship

Worship: The Reason We Were Created--Collected Insights from A. W. Tozer was complied by Moody Publishers, and it includes previously unpublished material. According to the back cover, "This compilation features various reflections on worship--what it is, why we do it, and why God is supremely worthy of it."

Each chapter focuses on aspects of worship. It's divided into eleven chapters, which includes the following titles: What Happened to Our Worship, Failing God, The Reason We Exist, True Worship Requires the New Birth, Worship as He Wills, Worship He Who Is Majestic and Meek, Awed by God's Presence, Genuine Worship Involves Feeling, Worship Like the Seraphim, Worship Every Day of the Week, and Worship Our Beloved. There are additional sections called Publisher's Note and References.

In the Publisher's Note, it's stated that "A. W. Tozer was a man who encountered the living God and made it his highest goal in life to worship Him in spirit and truth.... While these are the words of one man who died decades ago, they testify to the timeless truth that everything in this life and all our ambitions pale in comparison to knowing and magnifying the one true God who is the Lord of all."

Worship is geared towards various ages, from young adults to older generations.

Note: I received this book from Moody Newsroom, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
