Book Review: A Dance in Donegal

Title: A Dance in Donegal

Author: Jennifer Deibel

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: February 2, 2021

Ireland is a lovely place to visit and explore in real life, and A Dance in Donegal allows readers to travel back in time to 1921 in Ireland. This charming and intriguing fictional story is the first published novel by author, Jennifer Deibel.

The story focuses on Moira Doherty as she moves from Boston to Ireland to fulfill her mother's dying wish. While working as teacher, Moira settles in to the new place and tries to build friendships, while uncovering scandalous family history and learning about herself. Also, she unexpectedly starts to fall for Sean McFadden, an Irish local. This novel is a historical romance with underlying Christian themes and Bible verses referenced.

In the Author's Note, Deibel shares that she lived in Ireland and some of places mentioned in this story are based on reality. As a bonus, there's a two-page illustrated map of the village of Ballymann in Ireland that highlights various places and scenery referenced in the story. And there's a glossary spanning three pages with definitions and pronunciations for all the Irish Gaelic terms.

A Dance in Donegal is a recommended inspirational historical romance book.

Note: I received this book from Revell Reads, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
