Book Review: Suddenly Engaged

Suddenly Engaged is a modern romance by Julia London, and the third book in the Lake Haven series.

After a painful divorce, Dax Bishop moved to East Beach to build intricate furniture and avoid most of the people in his past. However, he wasn't ready for an adorable little six-year-old girl and her very attractive mother to move in next door. Even though he isn't ready to interact with anyone, Dax is somewhat charmed by little Ruby and Kyra Kokinos.

Kyra is a single mother working (and studying) to support her family, and she's hopeful that East Beach will be a step up from their rough life. Despite the hardships in their lives, Kyra and Dax drift together, due to their romance attraction. However, there's a dark turn in this book that I wasn't expecting!

Overall, it's an entertaining story with intriguing characters and delightful interactions, especially between Dax and adorable little Ruby. I love his nickname for Ruby. :)

Even though this book may be read as a standalone, it's ideal to start with the first book in series. Suddenly Engaged is my favorite book from the three books (so far) in this series.

Suddenly Engaged is an entertaining and heart-wrenching story that's worth reading over and over. It's recommended and geared towards contemporary romance fans.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
