Book Review: Investigator's Holy Bible

The Investigator's Holy Bible: Uncover the Truth of the Bible is a New International Version Bible. It focuses on a detective theme for children to learn and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible.

Mateo and Isabella are children detectives featured throughout this book. According to the Introduction, Mateo and Isabella share that they "love to solve mysteries and do detective work.... We are often confused by things we read in the Bible.... So, we decided to put our detective skills to use. We both sat down with pastors, parents, and teachers to find as many clues as we could about the Bible.... Then we sat down and helped the grown-ups write these notes for you. With a few comments from us too!"

This hardcover copy utilizes color illustrations of Mateo and Isabella, as well as their dog, Clooney. Throughout this Bible, there are numerous sidebars, which are titled as the following: The Evidence, Breakthrough, The Witnesses, The Scene, Check the Facts, and Case Closed. And these sidebars are explained in detail in the Introduction.

In addition to the Old and New Testaments, this Bible also includes the following back sections: Table of Weights and Measures, Index to Features, Concordance, and Maps.

In the Preface, it states that "the goal of the New International Version (NIV) is to enable English-speaking people from around the world to read and hear God's eternal Word in their own language." Also, the Preface explains about NIV biblical translation, as well as discusses Translation Philosophy, Textual Basis, and Footnotes and Formatting.

The NIV Investigator's Holy Bible is a positive way to enhance reading and designed to (hopefully) encourage children to read their Bible more often and have a deeper understanding of what they are reading. It is recommended and geared towards young readers, particularly ages six to ten, yet any age group would benefit from reading this Bible.

Note: I received this book from Book Look Bloggers, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
