Title: Highland Betrayl
Author: Alyson McLayne
Series: The Sons of Gregor MacLeod, Book #3
Publication Date: August 7, 2018
Highland Betrayal, by Alyson McLayne is an entertaining historical romance with a mix of danger and suspense, as well as humor and passion.
It's been years since Maggie MacDonnell has seen or heard from her betrothed. Her family's clan is in danger with one overly drunk brother, another missing brother, and someone else trying to claim their lands...and her! Since Maggie's completely alone, she decides to run away from home and try to find her absent brother. On her way, Maggie encounters various dangers and her betrothed.
Laird Callum MacLean absolutely loves and wants to marry Maggie, yet circumstances surrounding his father's death and other issues prevented him from returning. For years, Callum believed that Maggie was safer in her home rather than with his clan. When Maggie and Callum reunite, there's plenty of miscommunication and drama, yet they unwavering love is evident (even when they don't properly express it to each other). So far, the three books in this series are highly captivating.
Since it's the third book in The Sons of Gregor MacLeod series, it's ideal to start with the first book to meet the rest of the foster brothers and other characters. However, each book is a standalone, so it's not necessary to read the books in order.
Highland Betrayal is recommended and geared towards those who enjoy reading historical romances, particularly stories involving highlanders.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
