Book Review: Surrender

Surrender, by Joan Johnston is an enjoyable second chance contemporary romance dealing with an underlying feud between two families in a small town.

Taylor Grayhawk is an experience pilot transporting smoke jumpers into serious forest fires, yet one flight caused both engines to fail without a proper landing area. The only other person on the plane is Brian Flynn, who is a smoke jumper, as well as her secret high school sweetheart, since their families are enemies. Brian and Taylor manage to escape a plane crash and avoid burning in the forest fire, yet they are still in tragic danger.

The first part of this story is an action-adventure romance story with Brian and Taylor struggling to survive and learning about second chances. And the second half of this book is an contemporary small town romance that highly features their family members.

It's not necessary to read this series in order, since each book is a stand-alone. It's the eleventh book in the Bitter Creek series, so some reader would prefer starting with the first book to properly meet all the characters, especially the extensive family members.

Surrender is recommended and geared towards those who enjoy reading action-adventure second chance romances.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
