Book Review: Peace in the Valley

Peace in the Valley, by Ruth Logan Herne is an inspirational contemporary romance focused on ranch life, country music, and family dynamics.

Trey Walker Stafford is a famous country musician with a history of tragedy and hardships. As a young child, Trey was rescued and raised by his uncle. While growing up on the ranch, Trey considered his two cousins as brothers and his uncle as a father, who needs him now.

After years of pursuing his dream of country music, Trey is back home on the ranch for a temporary visit and he meets Lucy Carlton in an unusual manner. While managing her own business, Lucy is a single mother to her three kids and her deceased husband's teenage sister. Even though they are in frequent contact as temporary neighbors, Trey and Lucy are both hesitant to pursue a relationship, despite their attraction.

Trey and Lucy navigate their current situations, while dealing with their individual issues and family drama. It's a slow romance focused on friendship.

Since it's the third book in the Double S Ranch series, it's ideal to start with the first book, due to the overarching storyline and various secondary characters mentioned, yet it still reads as a standalone. Previously, I posted a review about Home on the Range, which is the second book in the series.

Peace in the Valley is recommended and geared towards those who enjoy reading contemporary faith-based novels with a clean romantic storyline intermixed with family drama and ranch life.

Note: I received this book from Blogging for Books, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
