Book Review: The Plans I Have for You Bible

The Plans I Have for You Holy Bible is a New International Version Bible, which is designed to help children learn and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible.

Throughout this Bible, there are two-color shades of blue illustrations by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, as well as 50 features titled God's Big Plans and 25 prayers titled Promise Prayers by Amy Parker. Both are also the author and illustrator of The Plans I Have for You picture book. The fun, yet slightly too youthful cover design is by Jamie DeBruyn.

In the introduction, Parker shares, "If there were one thing I could tell every person in the whole wide world, it would be this: God has BIG plans for YOU.... And guess what: you are holding that plan in your hands.... This is a book that you spend time with every day, you read again and again, and you keep with you for your entire life.... These are the plans God has for YOU. And they will change your heart, your mind, your life--for eternity."

In addition to the Old and New Testaments, this hardcover copy of the Bible also includes the following back sections: Introduction titled Letter from Amy, Preface, Table of Weights and Measures, Scripture Index, Index to God's Big Plans, and Index to Promise Prayers.

In the Preface, it states that "the goal of the New International Version (NIV) is to enable English-speaking people from around the world to read and hear God's eternal Word in their own language." Also, the Preface explains about NIV biblical translation, as well as discusses Translation Philosophy, Textual Basis, and Footnotes and Formatting.

The Plans I Have for You Holy Bible is designed to hopefully encourage children to read their Bible more often and have a deeper understanding of what they are reading. This Bible is recommended and geared towards young readers, particularly third to eighth grades, yet any age group would benefit from reading this Bible.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11
